Portrait Follow-Up

Hi all!

As I mentioned in my last post, I've been working on a series of portraits using dyed canvas and muslin, and yarn. I have completed stitching the colorful portraits (on canvas), but not yet stretched them, and have just begun working on the nickel triptych (on muslin).

It's been really interesting to see how they actually look versus the way I had pictured them beforehand, as well as challenging to rectify setbacks I had not foreseen (I broke a LOT of needles before finding one sharp enough for this project).

One of the most pleasing outcomes has been the coral/blue portrait. I started the project thinking it would be the weakest of the three, but it wound up being my favorite to work on and it came out the best of the bright works.
Now that the colorful pieces are all stitched, I'm on to the next group. The nickel portraits have been very different to work on due to the contrasting color and tighter weave of the muslin. The screenprinted stencil is much easier to see what I'm stitching, but I have to be careful about where I insert the needle, as it is not easy to hide misplaced entry points. Let's hope this next round is as much fun to work on as the first one!
