One of our regulars in the textiles department, Jackie, attended a week long quilting workshop in Traverse City, Michigan. The workshop was with Gwen Marston, and based on her book, Liberated Medallion Quilting. Basically this means you piece outward from a center block, but you don't plan your quilt ahead of time. One of the things I love about quilting is it's improvisational aspect. I love to choose the next block or piece based instinct and how I'm feeling. What I chose today might be totally different than what I would choose tomorrow. It is total creative freedom! I think Jackie is more comfortable with this method of working now and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
