Trending in Beginning Sewing

I love to see how many projects my Beginning Sewing class can complete. I had originally planned on a lined tote bag and zippered pillow, but many students finish that and we have time to go over making a lined zippered pouch and how to make an elastic skirt. I think this makes it a very well rounded class!

I also love to see what fabrics everyone chooses... Trending this winter are metallics! And birds, STILL!

These metallics have a pattern to them, but if you were to buy a solid metallic material the effect would be achieved by printing metallic ink through an open screen, rather than weaving with metallic thread. This makes me think that some fun could be had experimenting with different textures of fabric, metallic ink and an open screen!
